Platform08 — Mobile app
The guard’s entire duty, on one phone
Duty start, patrol scans, incident reports and next week’s shifts — in an app deliberately simple enough for a guard who has never used anything beyond WhatsApp.
The problem today
Field software fails when it is built for office users and pushed onto guards. Complicated screens in the wrong language on a budget Android phone means the app gets uninstalled — and your data collection dies with it.
What you get
One-button duty
Reach site, press one button, scan face — duty started. The interface is built around three big actions, not menus.
Works on budget Androids
Lightweight, offline-tolerant and battery-conscious — designed for entry-level phones and patchy networks.
Shifts & notifications
Guards see upcoming shifts, site addresses and changes instantly — fewer “where do I report tomorrow?” calls.
Icon-first, minimal text
Built around three big actions and icons over paragraphs, so a guard should not need strong English to do his duty right.
SOS button
A press-and-hold SOS alerts the ops room and supervisor with live location when a guard needs urgent help.
How it works
Step 1
Install and enrol
Guard installs the app, logs in with their phone number, and enrols their face once.
Step 2
Duty follows the app
Start duty, walk patrols, report incidents — each is one guided flow with big buttons.
Step 3
Everything syncs to ops
Every action lands on the agency dashboard live, or as soon as the network allows.
Common questions
Which phones does the app support?+
Android first — including entry-level devices with 2 GB RAM — since that is what most guards carry. It is tested against patchy networks and long shifts.
Does the app work for guards who aren’t confident in English?+
Yes. The interface is icon-first with minimal text, built around three big actions rather than menus, so first-time smartphone users find their way without needing strong English. Reach out if you need a specific local language pack for your rollout.
What if a guard’s phone dies mid-shift?+
The shift stays open on the ops board with the last known status flagged, and the supervisor is notified. Duty can be closed by the supervisor with a note.
